Sometimes it is the singer AND the song!

What a gem I found while surfing YouTube.

Kelly Price - It's Gonna Rain (Live)

Kelly Price was a successful background singer who became a R&B artist. Now she's a successful gospel artist. This song was on the soundtrack of Life -- a comedy with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. Something about it always spoke to me.

Sometimes Dirty Old Men are the Best!!

LOL...its not as bad as it sounds.

Yesterday as I stood in line to pay for sodas for lunch, the older gentleman in front of me accused me of flirting with him.

"Hey, why are you winking at me?  I'm an old man!!"

My reply...

"Why do you think I'm winking at you?!"

He was so tickled he paid for my sodas.  And all it cost me was a clever quip and a sly smile. LOL!

Sometimes I love fresh old men. Ha ha!

This is just a first run. My webcam is crap!! Its so hard to get proper lighting and my new lightbox was too small to shoot inside of. But I plan on adding tutorials to my blog and Facebook fan page. More than likely, I will reshoot this.

Thing A Day - February 14, 2009

I'm trying to teach my daughter how to frame things with her camera. So sometimes when we take walks in the neighborhood, I take pictures with my Blackberry. Sometimes I get really great shots.

Your number is: 8
The characteristics of #8 are: Practical endeavors, status oriented, power-seeking, high-material goals.

The expression or destiny for #8:
Your Expression is represented by the number 8. The 8 Expression is well-equipped in a managerial sense. You have outstanding organizational and administrative capabilities. You have the potential for considerable achievement in business or other powerful positions. You can expect to receive the financial and material rewards. You have the skill and abilities to establish or operate a business with great efficiency. You have good judgment when it comes to money and commercial matters, and you understand how to build and accumulate material wealth. With the number 8 Expression, you exercise sound judgment in most of your affairs; you are realistic and practical in your approach to business matters.

The positive 8 Expression produces individuals that are very ambitious and goal-oriented. If the 8 energy is not in excess in your makeup, you will no doubt express these traits to some extent. If your negative side is showing, you may be too exacting, both of yourself and of others. Sometimes this can even becomes a case of intolerance.
The number 8 is very materialistic and also very desirous of status and power. Neither of these drives are inherently negative unless they are taken to an extreme. If you are able to fully realize the potential of your motivation, you will be a very self-sacrificing person who is able to give freely without being concerned about any return or reward.
As with all human beings, you are prone to sometimes express the negative attitudes inherent to your Soul Urges. You may become too sensitive and tend to express emotions strongly at times. There can be significant conflict between higher aims and personal ambitions. You may resent the idea of giving all of the time and, in fact, if there is too much 9 energy in your nature you may reject the idea. You may often be disappointed in the lack of perfection in yourself and others.

Your Inner Dream number is: 8
An Inner Dream number of 8 means:

A shop without a home..

It seems like only yesterday I blogged about joining the Lollishops...wait a minute I think it was yesterday. Well I love the aesthetic but its not going to work out.

I literally have too much inventory to use it!!

One of the main reasons, I don't update my Etsy shop alot is because of the time it takes to list one item. I have hundreds of cards plus other items and uploading them is a full-time job in addition to the ones I have. I really need a cart with a bulk lister. (You listening Etsy and other shops like it) That's the main thing I liked about ProStores before the prices skyrocketed. Lollishops is a lot quicker because there's only one page to fill out but its still time consuming.

Its so much easier for me to keep a spreadsheet with all my inventory and update on a regular basis. Taking pictures can be done in one day with good light but a spreadsheet I can update as I go along and set an upload day during the week.

I may have an alternative solution...so for now keep looking for me on Etsy.

Thing A Day - February 3, 2009

I did do a Thing A Day.

I built myself a lightbox. but I got so wrapped up in taking product photos, I didn't take a picture of the box. I will add a picture on the 4th.

Monday, February 2, 2009

We are a part of the Lollishop Guild!

After some thought, I've decided to move...my shop that is.

Collective Elements is now a part of Lollishops!

Lollishops is the Frou Frou Friendly Marketplace.

I will still have a shop on Etsy and 1000 Markets but I feel Lollishops is a better fit for the style of my creations. As I look back on most of the items I created, I see a dominant strain of romantic colors and whimsy.

Most of my old inventory will be listed there and all new inventory will be listed in my new Lollishop. So please be sure to change your links. I'll be changing links on the blog soon.

Thing A Day - February 2, 2009

I stayed home to work out the last of this infection and finish off my paper.

I've been dying to try out this new N hook I bought so I picked something basic to crochet. Now mind you, I have never crocheted a scarf before. I don't do well with long projects but I figured the chenille was thick and the hook was large so it should go quickly. I also kept the rows short. Took about a half hour. Pretty spiffy, even if I say so myself.

Just so you know, I open to swapping with other participants in Thing A Day. Just contact me and we'll see what we can do.

Updated 2/3/08
Not available for swapping: My daughter loved it so much she wore it to school today. Don't worry, she's a budding artist. I'll get her to add something in exchange.

Thing A Day - February 1, 2009

So Thing A Day started today. Unfortunately I am in the middle of writing a paper, plus fighting off a sinus infection so I could only manage a little doodle.

I've been drawing this flower since I was a little girl. Sometimes its really detailed and some times its more basic than this picture. I used to say it was my daisy picture but its more like a pansy.

New Electric Company?

I'm sitting here watching the blasphemy which is the new Electric Company. You heard me...NEW Electric Company. It just started back up on January 23. My daughter giggled alittle but I see I have to invest in the videos so she can see classics like:
